GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. \u2014 A wildfire that began in a lawn tractor spread rapidly along the Grand River Sunday afternoon, prompting a swift and coordinated response from two local fire departments.<\/p>\n

Around 4 p.m. on Sunday, the Grand Haven Township Fire Department was called to a blaze near Mercury Drive and 164th Avenue, located near the township\u2019s border with Grand Haven. According to fire officials, the fire began when a lawn tractor caught fire, which quickly spread to nearby dry grass and rapidly intensified into a significant wildfire.<\/p>\n

When crews arrived on the scene, they were faced with flames moving swiftly through the backyard areas of several homes. The fire threatened to spread further along the riverbank, creating a dangerous situation for nearby residents and properties.<\/p>\n

Responding to the urgency of the situation, the Grand Haven Township Fire Department was joined by the Grand Haven Fire Department, which set up on the opposite side of the river to battle the blaze. Firefighters worked in unison to contain the fast-moving fire, which spread across several acres of land.<\/p>\n
