Grand Rapids, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Fire Department swiftly responded to a fire in the city’s West Side neighborhood Wednesday evening, preventing further damage to nearby properties.

The fire was reported just before 6 p.m. on Veto Street NW near Deloney Avenue SW, with multiple calls alerting authorities to the growing flames. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered two detached garages and a vehicle fully engulfed in fire.

Despite the intense flames, crews acted quickly to suppress the blaze, successfully preventing it from spreading to nearby houses. The prompt response and quick containment minimized potential damage to the surrounding area.

Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of injuries or significant property loss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Grand Rapids Fire Department.

Fire officials are urging residents to remain vigilant in fire safety as the investigation continues.
