Shooting in Byron Township Leaves One Injured

BYRON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A shooting incident in the Camelot Manor Mobile Home Community on Sunday evening left one person hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call about a shooting in the 300 block of N Harewood Dr SW around 5:35 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a 36-year-old man who had sustained serious injuries. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, where his condition was reported to be critical.

Authorities quickly apprehended the suspect, an 18-year-old man, who attempted to flee the scene but was taken into custody shortly thereafter.

Details surrounding the motive and circumstances of the shooting remain unclear, as the Sheriff’s Office has not released further information at this time. Investigators are working to piece together the events leading up to the incident.

As the investigation continues, authorities have assured the public that there is no immediate threat to the community. More information is expected to be released as it becomes available.

The incident remains under investigation.
