ANTWERP TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A woman was seriously injured Thursday afternoon in a head-on crash that occurred in front of Paw Paw High School, authorities reported.

The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident around 2:45 p.m. on Red Arrow Highway near Almena Drive. Investigators determined that a 51-year-old woman was traveling eastbound in a sedan when, for reasons still under investigation, her vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with another car heading westbound.

The second vehicle, occupied by two males aged 16 and 18, had just left the high school at the time of the crash. The impact caused both cars to spin out of control, resulting in significant front-end damage to both vehicles.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found the woman trapped inside her car and unresponsive. Firefighters worked quickly to extricate her from the vehicle. She was then transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The occupants of the westbound vehicle were treated at the scene for minor injuries and were later released.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved.

Red Arrow Highway was briefly closed while emergency crews worked to clear the scene. The crash remains a developing story, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
