Oshtemo Township, Mich. — Authorities responded to a fatal shooting Tuesday afternoon at the Canterbury House Apartments off Drake Road in Oshtemo Township.

According to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived on scene around 2:30 p.m. following a report of a gunshot. Officers found a male victim unresponsive inside one of the apartment buildings. First responders immediately performed life-saving measures before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The victim’s identity has not been released, pending notification of family members.

Witnesses at the scene provided deputies with a description of a possible suspect seen fleeing the area. Law enforcement quickly located an individual matching the description and took the person into custody for questioning.

Investigators remained on site for several hours, conducting interviews and gathering evidence. The sheriff’s office is urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 269-383-8749 or submit an anonymous tip through Silent Observer.

This remains an active investigation.
