Portage, MI — The Portage Department of Public Safety is urging the public to come forward with any information after a cyclist was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident late Monday night.
According to a release from the department, emergency responders were dispatched to the scene at the intersection of Lovers Lane and Stryker Way at 10:40 p.m. on February 17. Upon arrival, first responders found a 47-year-old Portage man who had been hit while riding his bicycle. Firefighters and paramedics immediately provided medical care to the victim, who was later transported to Bronson Hospital. Authorities confirmed that the man is in stable condition.
Investigators say that the cyclist was traveling southbound on Lovers Lane when a vehicle struck him from behind before fleeing the scene. Authorities believe the suspect vehicle is a black 2016 to 2024 Mazda CX5 or CX9.
