21-Year-Old Man Dies in Shooting North of Kalamazoo

PARCHMENT, Mich. — A 21-year-old man has died following a shooting early Sunday morning in Parchment, located just north of Kalamazoo. The Kalamazoo Township Police Department responded to the scene around 1 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired at a large gathering near Shoppers Lane, Commerce Lane, and South Riverview Drive.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a man who had sustained gunshot wounds. Emergency responders quickly administered first aid before transporting the victim to the hospital. Despite efforts to save him, the man later died from his injuries. The victim has been identified as Xzavier D. Harris, 21, according to police.

Authorities believe the shooting was targeted, suggesting that the victim and the shooter were acquainted. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
