Grand Rapids, Mich. — A hit-and-run suspect was apprehended by police Sunday afternoon after a brief but intensive search aided by drone technology.

According to the Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD), the incident occurred around 2:40 p.m. on Giddings Avenue, near Hall Street. Officers quickly responded to the scene, launching a search to locate the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.

Within minutes, the GRPD deployed a drone to assist in the search. After approximately 20 minutes of aerial surveillance, the suspect’s vehicle was tracked to Mackinaw Road, where the individual was arrested without incident.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the collision, GRPD officials confirmed.

This incident highlights the growing use of drones in law enforcement operations, providing valuable real-time support in locating suspects and ensuring public safety.
