PLAINWELL, Mich. — Authorities recovered a man’s body from the Kalamazoo River on Tuesday afternoon, an incident likely linked to a recent report of a missing person.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the discovery occurred around 2:36 p.m. in Otsego Township, though the exact location was not disclosed. Officials have not yet released the identity of the deceased.
The recovery appears connected to an earlier incident on May 17, when Plainwell public safety officers witnessed a man submerge himself in the Kalamazoo River near the US-131 bridge. Despite an extensive search by rescue crews that lasted for several hours, the man was not found at that time.
The sheriff’s office is currently investigating the case, but deputies say there is no indication of foul play.
