Cascade Township, MI — Quail Ridge Golf Club, a popular destination for golfers in Cascade Township, has officially changed ownership. General Manager Kyle Holmes and Superintendent Tim Topolinski are the new owners of the course, marking a new chapter for the 25-year-old golf club. The duo purchased the course for $6.6 million, according to Crain’s Grand Rapids Business, which was the first to report on the sale.
Holmes and Topolinski are not newcomers to Quail Ridge. Both have spent years working at the course, with Topolinski having been part of the original team that transformed farmland into a golf course 27 years ago. Holmes joined the staff in 2015, bringing his expertise to the operation.
The opportunity to purchase the golf course came when the previous owners decided to move on. According to Holmes and Topolinski, they were thrilled when the owners approached them with the offer. “We’re very grateful for this opportunity to lead Quail Ridge Golf Club into the future,” Holmes said in an interview. “(The previous owners) showed a lot of faith and trust in Tim and I to turn it into the best version of what we thought it could be.”
Despite the change in ownership, the course’s day-to-day operations are expected to remain largely the same. Topolinski emphasized that the primary difference would be that the course is now owner-operated. “It will be our names on the bank account,” he said, assuring golfers that the familiar atmosphere and high-quality experience they’ve come to expect will continue.
In addition to maintaining the course’s strong tradition, the new owners are looking to introduce some fresh initiatives. For example, they plan to add a new Easter brunch this year, expanding the club’s offerings beyond just golf. Holmes said, however, that the essence of the golf experience will remain unchanged. “We want to continue to be a staple in West Michigan for public golf,” he explained. “This place is going to continue to be a golf course for as long as Tim and I are around and able to keep it moving forward.”
The success of Quail Ridge Golf Club over the years has been attributed to several factors, including the dedication of its staff, the impeccable course conditions maintained by Topolinski, and their willingness to innovate. The golf carts, for example, now come equipped with Bluetooth speakers to cater to a younger generation of golfers.
“We’ve made a great team this entire time,” Holmes said. “Quail Ridge has been highly successful, and a lot of it is because of the way we work together and the staff we have around us.”
As the golf season approaches, golfers are eagerly anticipating the opening of the course. While recent warm weather has some itching to hit the links, Holmes reminded the public that the official start of golf season usually falls between March 10 and March 20. The club is aiming to open by March 10, aligning with the start of the high school spring sports season, though this will be weather-dependent.
“It’s close, it’s around the corner,” Holmes said. “I think people can sense it. The snow is melting, the days are getting a little warmer, the sun is out more… all those things get people thinking about golf again.”
As the 2025 season approaches, it’s clear that Quail Ridge Golf Club is in good hands, with a bright future ahead under its new ownership.
