KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Authorities are investigating a shooting incident that occurred early Sunday morning at an apartment on Lafayette Avenue near Weaver Boulevard. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) responded to reports of gunfire just before 3 a.m., where officers discovered a large party taking place.

Witnesses at the scene reported that an individual had been removed from the apartment prior to the shooting. According to their statements, the individual fired a shot into the ceiling before stepping outside and discharging another round. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident.

As of now, no suspects have been identified, and the investigation is ongoing. KDPS officials are working to gather further details to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

In response to the event, Western Michigan University issued an alert to students in the area, advising them to exercise caution and stay informed about the situation.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and anyone with information is encouraged to come forward.
