WYOMING, Mich. — A late-night fire caused significant damage to a home on Oak Valley Court SW Thursday, though fortunately, no injuries were reported.
At approximately 10:15 p.m., neighbors contacted 911 to report a fire at a residence near Klaver Street, located off Burlingame Avenue SW in Wyoming. Firefighters from the Wyoming Department of Public Safety (WDPS) responded swiftly to the scene and were able to extinguish the flames within about 30 minutes.
Brad Dornbos, a fire inspector with the WDPS, confirmed that three individuals reside in the home, all of whom were able to safely evacuate the house before emergency responders arrived. No injuries were reported.
While the cause of the fire remains unclear, authorities have launched an investigation to determine its origin. Fire officials are continuing to assess the damage to the property, though Dornbos described the destruction as significant.
Residents in the area expressed concern following the fire, with many relieved that the situation did not result in any loss of life or injuries. WDPS has assured the public that more information will be made available as the investigation progresses.
The fire serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety, especially during the colder months when heating devices are commonly in use. Authorities continue to advise homeowners to regularly inspect their smoke detectors and fire extinguishers to ensure they are in proper working condition.
