HOWARD CITY, Mich. — A frightening incident unfolded Monday night when a pickup truck crashed into the outdoor seating area of a local ice cream shop, injuring several people, including an 11-year-old child. The incident occurred around 7:40 p.m. on Ensley Street near Walnut Street.

According to Michigan State Police, the chain of events began when a vehicle traveling south on Ensley Street attempted to turn into the path of a pickup truck. The collision between the two vehicles caused the truck to veer off course, sending it through the outdoor seating area of an ice cream shop located on the east side of the street. In addition to striking two parked vehicles, the truck also hit an 11-year-old child who was standing in line at the time.

The young victim, along with four other individuals who sustained injuries, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries is still being evaluated, though authorities are working to gather more information.

Witnesses reported chaos as the truck slammed into the seating area, and first responders were quick to arrive on the scene to provide assistance. The ice cream shop, which had been bustling with customers enjoying a warm evening, was left shaken by the incident.

As of now, authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident, but no further details have been released regarding the condition of the injured or the cause of the initial collision. Local law enforcement urges anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward with information.

The Howard City community is now left to process the aftermath of the crash, as the ice cream shop reopens its doors following the unsettling event. Local officials are offering support to those affected, while residents remain hopeful for a speedy recovery for all involved.
