Grand Rapids, Mich. – A Rockford woman was injured in a rear-end collision Sunday morning in Mecosta County. The crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. on 8 Mile Road near Old State Road, when a vehicle waiting to turn into a gas station was struck from behind.

Deputies from the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and determined that the incident involved two vehicles. The first vehicle, driven by a 47-year-old woman from Rockford, was waiting to make a turn when it was rear-ended by another vehicle. The second vehicle, driven by a 25-year-old man from Fruitport, failed to stop in time and collided with the back of the Rockford woman’s car.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Also in the vehicle with her was a 47-year-old man from Rockford, who sustained minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 25-year-old man from Fruitport, also sustained minor injuries but declined further treatment at the scene.

The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the cause of the crash. Authorities have not stated whether alcohol or speed were factors in the collision.
