Orange Township, MI – A tragic crash on Wednesday evening claimed the life of a 31-year-old woman and left three others, including a child, injured in a head-on collision south of Ionia.

The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on M-66 near Grand River Avenue, according to Michigan State Police. Authorities report that a 27-year-old man from Portland, MI, was driving southbound when he crossed into the northbound lane, colliding head-on with a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 31-year-old woman from Saranac, MI, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released as of Thursday. She was accompanied by two passengers— a 32-year-old man and a 2-year-old girl— both of whom were hospitalized with serious injuries. The child’s condition is not immediately clear.

The Portland man, who was also injured in the crash, was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

Michigan State Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the collision, and anyone with information is urged to contact the MSP Lakeview Post at 989-352-8444.

This incident is under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the factors that led to the deadly crash.
