QUINCY TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Quincy man is dead after suffering a medical emergency while driving over the weekend. Authorities report that the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. Saturday on Strang Road, just west of Boone Road in Quincy Township.
According to the Branch County Sheriff’s Office, 75-year-old Willard John McCall was behind the wheel of his vehicle when he is believed to have experienced a medical emergency, causing him to lose control of the car. The vehicle left the roadway and came to a stop in a nearby ditch.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene and found McCall unresponsive and not breathing. Despite their efforts to assist, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that neither drugs nor alcohol were believed to have contributed to the crash. Additionally, McCall was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the incident.
The cause of the medical emergency remains under investigation, but authorities have expressed no suspicion of foul play. The crash serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of medical emergencies and their potential impact while driving.
