MUSKEGON, Mich. — A man died early Sunday morning after a fire broke out at his home near Crozier Avenue and Leon Street, according to the Muskegon Fire Department.
At approximately 7:10 a.m., firefighters responded to reports of a structure fire in the area. Upon arrival, they encountered heavy fire conditions at the front of the house.
A neighbor informed responders that the homeowner, a 70-year-old man, lived alone and that his truck was still in the driveway, suggesting he might still be inside the home.
Firefighters quickly entered the residence and found the man unresponsive in a hallway. Despite efforts to revive him, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Muskegon Fire Department did not release the victim’s name at the time of the report.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Muskegon Fire Department fire marshal and city police. Officials have yet to determine the exact circumstances that led to the blaze.
