GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. โ€” A domestic assault early Sunday morning left both a man and a woman injured, prompting a response from the Grand Rapids Police Department.

At approximately 4 a.m., officers arrived at the scene near Sutton Street SW and Division Avenue, where a male suspect had barricaded himself inside a residence. The situation unfolded as the woman and children managed to exit the home safely.

Following a brief negotiation, the suspect surrendered to law enforcement and was taken into custody without further incident. Both the man and woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries, with the woman being transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Fortunately, the children present at the home were unharmed during the ordeal.

The Grand Rapids Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident, and no further details have been released at this time. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the assault and the well-being of all involved.
