GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 22-year-old woman was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after a pickup truck crossed the center line and collided with her vehicle head-on in Georgetown Township.

The crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Fillmore Street, near Clay Court, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say a 22-year-old man from Muskegon was driving eastbound in a Chevy Silverado when he veered into the opposite lane, striking a Honda Civic that was heading west.

The driver of the Honda Civic, a woman from Sparta, sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Her condition has not been released.

Investigators believe that alcohol and/or drugs may have contributed to the accident, though the sheriff’s office did not provide further details. The collision caused Fillmore Street to be closed for several hours as authorities investigated the scene and worked to clear the wreckage.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
