Grand Rapids, Mich. — Crews responded to a fire at a multiplex home in Grand Rapids on Monday afternoon.

The fire, which erupted near the intersection of Dawes Avenue and Shangri-La Drive, is located off Kalamazoo Avenue near 28th Street. Authorities were quick to dispatch multiple fire trucks to the scene as smoke billowed into the sky.

A News 8 crew on-site witnessed firefighters spraying water onto the roof of the building as they worked to contain the blaze. At this time, it remains unclear what caused the fire, as officials have yet to release further details about the incident.

No injuries have been reported, but the situation remains under investigation as crews continue to work on extinguishing the flames.

Firefighters are expected to remain at the scene for several hours while they assess the damage and ensure the fire is fully contained.

Residents in the area are being urged to avoid the vicinity as emergency response teams continue their operations.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
